Wet Sprinklers

Wet sprinkler systems are the most common sprinkler systems. Water is stored in the pipes at all times and readily available should a sprinkler head activate. Pressure is managed differently for each site based on available water supply and may require a fire pump.

Wet Standpipe

Wet standpipe systems are piped throughout buildings to be accessed and used by a fire hose. Pipe runs throughout the buildings and valves are provided where fire departments can hook up their hoses and fight fires. Wet standpipe systems have water stored in the pipes at all times and pressure is provided by various means including fire truck pumper connections and standpipe pumps.

Early Supression Fast Response (ESFR) Systems

In warehousing and facilities using storage racking and high pile storage, ESFR sprinkler systems are implemented at the ceiling level to deliver early suppression and fast response with a high volume of water. In most cases, this eliminates the need for in-rack sprinklers.

Deluge Systems

Deluge systems are used for high risk areas where water is not stored in the piping but when required, mass amounts are made available quickly. A fire alarm system of heat or smoke detection is used in the high risk area and activates the deluge system. Once the deluge system activates, ALL sprinkler heads connected to the system discharge simultaneously to suppress the fire.

Fire Pumps

Fire pumps are employed on wet sprinkler systems when the available municipal water pressure does not meet the sprinkler system design requirements. In most cases, fire pumps are electric or diesel, and are equipped with a controller.

Onyx-Sprinkler Installations has the experience and expertise to design, project manage and install all of these types of systems.
